How long will it be before the color fades on Rubberific Mulch?   We use a special patented UV protective coating that has been lab tested not to fade for up to 10+ years; the products still looks brand new after 13 years in test-market areas.
Is it harmful to humans, animals, or plants?   IMC products are made from EPA-approved non-toxic recycled rubber.
What area will it cover?   The recommended installation depth for Rubberific Mulch is 1” about half that of traditional ground cover, so a 1 cu.ft. bag covers approximate 12 sq. ft., a 2 cu.ft. bag covers 24 sq. ft. This depth provides adequate coverage and ensures proper soil moisture for plants and shrubs. We do recommend that you order approximately 5% more than you think you need to allow for measuring errors. Click here for our Coverage Calculator
Does it smell like rubber?   During initial application Rubberific Mulch will have a rubber smell, this will dissipate within a few days.
Is it good for plants?   Since rubber will not absorb water, the moisture and nutrients travel directly through to the soil. Then Rubberific Mulch acts as an insulator to protect plants from both extreme heat and cold. Rubberific Mulch only needs to be applied at a depth of 1” to perform these functions. Wood mulch actually absorbs some moisture before it reaches the soil, which means more frequent watering during the hot summer months and a higher water bill.
Does the color rub off or wash off?   The colors are permanent and UV protected so they will not rub off on shoes, skin, or clothes.
Will Rubberific Mulch add nutrients to the soil like wood mulch?   It is actually a common misconception that all wood mulches add nutrients to the soil. Only composted mulch will offer nutriental value to plants and soil. As one would guess, Rubberific Mulch also does not add nutritional benefits, however, granular and spray fertilizers can be used in conjunction with Rubberific Mulch with no adverse affects to the color coating.
What about the steel belts and threads?   Rubberific Mulch is 99.9% steel free. As a precautionary measure, we have a 2000lb magnet in-line before packaging to ensure the quality of your mulch.
Will it wash out of my landscaping?   Because Rubberific Mulch is nearly five times heavier than wood mulch, it stays in place better. Therefore, Rubberific Mulch is the perfect mulch for hillsides and problematic areas. In fact, Rubberific Mulch will stay in place so well you can actually use a leaf blower on low to remove debris and leaves without blowing your mulch down the street.
Will Rubberific Mulch attract termites   Rubberific Mulch does not itself attract insects. Exterminators across the country recommend our product.
Is there any problem with latex allergies?   Latex allergies come from items made with Natural Rubber Latex which comes from a liquid in tropical rubber trees an is present in things like gloves, balloons and rubber bands. Despite our name, Rubberific Mulch actually comes from rubber tire, not Rubber Trees. Tires are made primarily from petroleum based products. Click here for more details on latex allergies.
